In its November 17 episode, "Gray," NBC's 'Law & Order: SVU' will tackle the issue of campus sexual assault in a fresh, thought-provoking way. We are always encouraged when the media tackles the complex subject of sexual violence in a way that is sensitive to victims. We have not yet seen it, but are hopeful that this episode will open many people's eyes to the needs and challenges women face, particularly on college campuses, when they accuse someone they know of rape. As Mariska Hargitay, star of 'Law & Order: SVU' says, "This episode is one that is very close to my heart... (it) captures the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses and highlights the obstacles for survivors who wish to find justice and healing."

We are pleased to report that NBC will be doing a special screening of the episode at NYU, followed by a panel discussion featuring Katie Hnida (founding member of CounterQuo and member of The Voices and Faces Project), Jennifer Wilson Marsh (hotline director at RAINN), Dick Wolf (executive producer of Law & Order) and Ice-T (co-star).

Hear more about what Mariska Hargitay and others associated with the show have to say about the episode and sexual violence, and follow the post-show discussion here.
